Removes housing discrimination as cause of action for certain relief & damages stemming from violations of Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992; revises requirements & conditions upon which person aggrieved by discriminatory housing practice may file complaint.
Designates act “Competitive Workforce Act”; prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation & gender identity or expression; defines terms; substitutes references to “disability” for references to “handicap”; revises & conforms terminology.
Requiring the Department of Children and Families to create a voluntary certification program for recovery residences; requiring the department to approve credentialing entities to develop and administer the certification program; requiring background screening of employees of a recovery residence; providing for denial, suspension, or revocation of certification; directing the department to approve at least one credentialing entity by a specified date to develop and administer the certification program; requiring the department to publish the list on its website, etc.
Providing for reallocation of unencumbered funds returned to the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund; increasing threshold amounts for certain theft offenses; revising criminal penalties for the third or subsequent offense of driving while license suspended, revoked, canceled, or disqualified; requiring the Department of Children and Families to provide rehabilitation to criminal offenders designated as sexually violent predators; establishing eligibility criteria for expunction of a criminal history record by a person found to have acted in lawful self-defense; creating the Task Force on the Criminal Punishment Code adjunct to the Department of Legal Affairs, etc.
