Makes the owner of a vehicle used to pass or overtake a stopped school bus jointly liable with the operator thereof when such violation is captured on a camera or observed by a school bus driver; authorizes the use of photographic evidence in the prosecution of such infraction; includes within the class A misdemeanor of assault in the third degree, the causation of physical injury to another person while passing or overtaking a stopped school bus; includes within the class E felony of criminally negligent homicide, the causation of death to another person while passing or overtaking a stopped school bus.

An act to amend the personal property law and the general business law, in relation to enhancing consumer protection in motor vehicle retail leasing, conforming to federal requirements, and providing for a cooling off period for leasing and purchasing and to repeal subdivision 7 of section 331 of the personal property law relating to “initial early termination charge”

The purpose of this bill is to conform the New York State Motor Vehicle Retail Leasing Act (NYS MVRLA) with federal Regulation M and to provide other consumer protections.

An act to amend the public health law, in relation to establishing the childhood lead poisoning primary prevention and safe housing act; to amend the state finance law, in relation to establishing the childhood lead poisoning primary prevention and safe housing fund; to amend the tax law, in relation to authorizing a credit for lead hazard reduction activities; and providing for the repeal of certain provisions upon expiration thereof

To eliminate childhood lead poisoning in the state through primary prevention measures that include financial assistance to landlords and homeowners for lead-based paint hazard remediation in pre-1978 housing, screening of persons at risk of lead poisoning and public awareness and education.

An act to amend the multiple dwelling law, in relation to landlord checks of the state sex offender registry and notification of certain tenants

Requires landlords to check state offender registry when leasing to a new tenant or on notice of sublet, and to notify tenants with children of any listing.
